Crathes Castle is a castle, built in the 16th century, near Banchory in Aberdeenshire, Scotland

Castle built in the 16th century this enchanting castle is an intricate maze of turrets, towers, oak panels and painted ceiling which have survived beautifully to this day.

Castle, a 16th-century tower house, has a rich history tied to the Burnett family, who owned it for over 350 years.

Construction began in 1553 and was completed in 1596, with some additions made in the 18th century.

The castle stands on land originally granted to the Burnetts by King Robert the Bruce in 1323.
